New Cover

My sister Tara created a new cover for Aidan’s Shadow. It looks amazing, and it will be available until my girlfriend finishes her cover. I’m sure that you guys will love it. She pointed out that my original cover looked more like a dime store romance novel than an urban fantasy novel about depression. Thanks, Tara!

It’s Live!

Hi,

I just published Aidan’s Shadow on Amazon. It’s available for purchase,  and it’s free for Kindle Unlimited subscribers. Please check it out. I’m proud of it, and I know that you’ll love it. Thanks!

Kindle Release

I’ve made some important revisions to Aidan’s Shadow. I feel comfortable releasing the Kindle version this weekend. The final cover is still in the works, but the artist has a number of familial obligations that may delay this process. I’ve created my own cover. It’s not ideal, but it looks fine. I will wait to release the paperback version until she has finished her version, but I’m too excited to wait any longer to release the kindle version. I know that you guys will love it. Thanks for following me on this journey. I’m proud of my first novel.

Update

I belive that I have fixed all of the formatting errors with Aidan’s Shadow. I could tinker with the phrasing forever, but I think that I am just going to publish it when the cover is completed. My girlfriend has made excellent progress with the cover design. I am sure that it will look incredible. Anyway, I plan to publish it within the next week. I hope that people will like it.

Thanks,

Luke

Beaufort

Aidan’s Shadow: Darkened Paradise is set in Beaufort, South Carolina. This small town in the Lowcountry of South Carolina is an absolutely beautiful setting. I had always heard that I should write about what I’m familiar with, so I modeled Aidan’s personality after my my high school personality (when I experienced a severe depressive episode). I obviously altered a number of details and invented characters (Tris, Chris, Faye, Cassandra, etc.). These characters were rough amalgams of friends and acquaintances throughout my life. The family members portrayed in the novel were slightly more complicated. They were loosely modeled after my family. Basically, I used much of their biographical information, but changed their personalities/ behavior (to varying degrees). I did this to serve the narrative. The love that Aidan feels for his family is reflective of my own feelings, though.

Aidan’s Shadow

Hello,

I’m quite close to publishing my novel. The ebook is almost completely ready. I just need my girlfriend to finish the cover. I have a backup cover that I threw together, but it’s not as amazing as what I know that she’s capable of. I’m going to work on the audio book tomorrow. Everything is coming together.

Thanks!

“Curtains”

I took a song from “Aidan’s Shadow” and put it to music. It’s kind of lo-fi, but I hope that you guys like it.

Lyrics: “And I saw the curtains begin to close. And I sensed my feelings changing. Everything that I thought I knew quickly slipping and rearranging. With my thoughts awash with confusion, I hurtled towards the conclusion. I wanted to speak but couldn’t find the phrase as my friends moved closer to their future stage. I look ahead into the mist, and ponder all the things I’ll miss. And I love you, I love you. But I don’t know how to keep you,”

“And I knew my time was fleeting, but I didn’t know how to reach through. I was in the familiar I feared that you outgrew. In the midst of present worries, I remember all of our journeys. While torn between two worlds, my head frantically swirls. And I love you, I love you. But I don’t know how to keep you.”

Writing Update

I finished editing “Aidan’s Shadow: Darkened Paradise.” As soon as my gf finishes the cover, I’ll publish it on Kindle and other platforms.  Thanks to everyone who’s supported me. Stay tuned for updates.
